ChatOn was first launched in 2011 and is currently being used in 120 countries. However, the service is facing tough competition from rivals like WhatsApp, Viber, Facebook Messenger and so on. The service last announced that it had 100 million users while WhatsApp already has more than 500 million users. The Korea Times report earlier this week said that Samsung has decided to shut down the ChatOn service in selected markets where it is not well received.
