Apple took to New York City today for another major product showcase to close out October. The event, which began today at 10 AM EDT, saw the manufacturer reveal a new iPad Pro and Mac hardware, with announcements by way of new reveals such as an improved Mac Mini.
The new Mac mini will now come with 4 cores by default, but you can opt for one with 6 cores, with 8th generation GPUs that are said to make the product 5x faster than the previous models. It will also include 32GB RAM with support for up to 64GB, and support for storage up to 2TB. This is the first time Apple has updated its Mac mini product since 2014, so the refresh has been long overdue. With all these alterations, the Mac Mini’s exterior still looks the same, with all the upgrades under the hood.
In addition, it’ll come packing the new T2 security chip as well as four USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports, two USB-A ports, as well as HDMI and Ethernet options.
The Mac mini previously began at $499, offering the entirety of the “Mac experience” in a small, 7.7-inch-square package. You could simply connect your own peripherals and create a modular desktop computer, which offers energy efficiency and a small profile to keep your workspace clutter free.
