If you’re planning on using your GameCube controller with your Nintendo Switch for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this December, you’ll need a special adapter to make it work.
Luckily, gaming accessory manufacturer 8Bitdo has just the thing: a new adapter called GBros., which connects your original wired controller to your Switch as if it were a Wii remote. It includes dedicated home and screenshot buttons to make navigating and documenting your Smash experience even easier, too.
The adapter is also compatible with Windows, for users running Windows 7 above, and connects via Bluetooth. The classic GameCube controller isn’t the only thing the adapter’s compatible with, though – you can use it with your NES, SNES, and Wii Classic controller as well. If for some reason you’re not satisfied with your Joy-cons or Nintendo Switch Pro controller, this is a great alternative.
Many pro and hardcore Smash players prefer their classic GameCube controller over anything else for regular play, so this is a handy little accessory for anyone looking forward to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s December 7 release. The GBros. adapter will begin shipping the same day, so there’s not a very long wait to grab it, either. It’ll set you back just $20, and it even matches the classic GameCube coloring. Now if only they’d make similarly-colored Joy-cons.
