Samsung India today announced that it has invested INR. 517 crores for the expansion of the Noida plant under the UP Mega Policy. The plan was inaugurated by Akhilesh Yadav, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in Lucknow today. Samsung's latest Z1 Tizen smartphone will also be manufactured at the Noida facility with most of the phone’s software being developed at the Noida Research Centre, it said. Samsung India Electronics has completed 20 years in India and today has three research labs and two manufacturing plants in the country with a total of 45,000 employees, said the company. The pant has online monitoring system to monitor the processes on a real-time basis and has modern training facility spread over 35,000 sq. ft. within its manufacturing premises to focus on capability building and skill enhancement of its employees. It will gradually expand the capacity at this plant to meet the growing domestic demand for mobile handsets, added Samsung.
