In recent times, the ability to live transcribe speech has become popular in a few Google apps and now, yet another feature has come to Google Translate. Users can transcribe speech from one language to the language of their choice in real time, which can be a great feature when travelling abroad or if you have an international friend. The feature is available for 8 languages currently which include English, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Thai. With the latest version of Translate, a user can click the 'Transcribe' button and choose the two languages they wish to translate between. Transcription will start once the mic button below is clicked and it can be paused with the same button. Users can also see the original transcript, change the text size or choose a dark theme in the settings menu. To use this feature make sure you have the latest version of Google Translate, which can be downloaded at the Play Store for Android, but it might be a server-side roll out. Support for iOS devices is not available but may come soon. Source
