After the Mi 3 started selling out in a matter of seconds, Xiaomi decided to ramp up its production for the Redmi 1S, which was expected to generate even more interest in India thanks to its relatively low price. Xiaomi had initially announced the Redmi 1S for 6,999 INR, but took it down to 5,999 INR before the first sale that took place on the 2nd of September. 40,000 units of the Redmi 1S were sold in a matter of just 4.2 seconds, which was certainly something neither Xiaomi nor the Indian consumers hoped for. After all, a lot of the unsatisfied consumers have been complaining about Xiaomi creating 'fake demand' to give their brand a boost. The situation wasn't to improve today, when the Redmi 1S sold out yet again in under 5 seconds. Xiaomi was quick to announce this on their social feeds; we don't know whether they've been taking pride in this or not. The next Redmi 1S sale is slated to take place a week from now, i.e., on the 16th of September.
