Xiaomi rolled out Android Pie update to Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite users last month and earlier this month company started rolling out Android Pie update to Mi A1 closed beta testers. Now, Xiaomi has announced that it will no longer allow Mi A1 and Mi A2 users to downgrade to Android Oreo after updating to Android 9.0 (Pie). A post by Mi Community admin says, Hello Mi A1 & Mi A2 users Please note that your device should not be attempted to roll back to Android O or previous versions once it got updated to Android P. Since Android P brings many irreversible updates to the system, rolling back to previous versions may cause errors and defects, which can have an adverse effect on the normal functioning of your device. Please do note this, we appreciate your understanding! Mi Community admin has not mentioned the reason behind this but it can be due to the rollback protection feature announced at Google I/O this year. Xiaomi had enabled anti-rollback protection on Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 5 back in July, recently company enabled anti-rollback protection on Redmi 5A and Redmi 5 with Android 8.1 (Oreo) based MIUI Global Beta update.
