According to sources, Microsoft is said to be planning on making a return to the webcam market as the company is working on a new 4K-capable camera that could work with both Windows 10 PCs and Xbox One. The Microsoft webcam will provide Windows Hello-based authentication, making the first time the company has provided this capability on a standalone camera. Microsoft has only provided Windows Hello functionality via the camera systems built into its Surface PCs only so far. On Xbox One, the upcoming webcam will let users sign-in automatically simply by moving in front of the camera. This will work with multiple users, too. Microsoft’s new webcams might be linked to the new USB-C-based webcam that it will ship alongside Surface Hub 2 later this year. The device comes with multiple USB-C ports around its periphery so that you can mount a single camera, or use multiple cameras. The upcoming Microsoft webcam will be enterprise-focused. No details regarding the launch timeline are available yet. Source
